Hello Edward, You're right, I misread your initial message and thus the confusion. You're right, pike7.6 is not in etch yet - please see http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?excuse=pike7.6 though. It should be in the testing archive really soon now. thanks for your input, regards marek

Hello Marek, You're right, I misread your initial message heh - I deal with bug reports too - misreading is all too easy. It's an unavoidable problem of knowing enough to usually be right ... please see http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?excuse=pike7.6 though. I like the url; it has a pleasing honesty to it ^^ It should be in the testing archive really soon now. Yay :-) Not that it'll affect me until it's updated to a newer version than sarge offered me the other week, since I *do* have it installed, but other users of testing will be better for it :-) Eddy. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#342650: pike7.6: The pike package is present in sarge but missing from etch.
Thanks for your prompt reply. http://packages.debian.org/unstable/interpreters/pike7.6 http://www.debian.org/releases/ says that unstable is sid, testing is etch. See bug summary: the problem is with etch. On http://packages.debian.org/testing/interpreters/ I see the alphabetical list go php5-uuid (1.3.1-1) OSSP uuid module for php5 prolog-el (1.3-3) Emacs major mode for editing Prolog code without the intervening several pages of pike that show up on the matching page for unstable. If I try to access http://packages.debian.org/testing/interpreters/pike7.6 I get a 404 response. As you can see, the package is right there. in sarge and sid but *not in etch* ... Bug#342650: pike7.6: The pike package is present in sarge but missing from etch.
Package: pike7.6 Version: 7.6.24-1 Severity: important Some months ago I upgraded from sarge to etch by simply editing sources.list and running aptitude -u; consequently, I kept the pike7.6 from before the switch. (I'm told a dist-upgrade would have removed it.) This week, I got a new machine, so set it up straight off in testing. The pike7.6 package is not present. I had to add a sarge entry back into sources.list to retrieve it ! So it's *etch*, not pike, that was rendered unusable (for me) by this omission ... -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-11-em64t-p4-smp Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages pike7.6 depends on: ii pike7.6-core 7.6.24-1 Powerful interpreted programming l ii pike7.6-gdbm 7.6.24-1 Gdbm module for Pike ii pike7.6-image 7.6.24-1 Image module for Pike Versions of packages pike7.6 recommends: ii pike7.6-doc 7.6.24-1 Pike 7.6 documentation meta packag -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
