Bug#350533: Wireless card fails after pcmciautils installed
Good news, Recently began having problems with dvd symlinks. Bug #323282 provided a suggestion by Anders E. Andersen to rm -r /etc/udev (after making a backup copy for local rules), purge the the udev package, reinstalling udev. Once I had done this rebooted the symlinks were correct the network worked as expected automagically. Bug#350533: Wireless card fails after pcmciautils installed
udevmonitor and/or enabling events logging in hotplug.rules will help verifying this. If the results are still not useful, then just add to the top of the script something like touch /dev/some-flag-file which is a simple way to determine if the script is being run or not. (BTW, please build the package with V=true, using ccdv wastes time and hides potentially useful messages from buildds operators.) Hello, I have modified /lib/udev/pcmcia-socket-start as suggested, and I do see the flag file created, so pcmcia-socket-start is being run during startup. I also enabled hotplug.rules logging but I don't see a /dev/hotplug.log file created. Just to backtrack slightly, orinoco_cs is loaded via /etc/modules, and removing this causes pcmcia-socket-startup to fail. Bug#350533: Wireless card fails after pcmciautils installed
Ben Sargeant: After a reboot it is I just need to do the /lib/udev/pcmcia-socket-startup followed by a /etc/init.d/network restart. You shouldn't need to do /etc/init.d/network restart, just put allow-hotplug eth0 (or whatever your interface is called) in /etc/network/interfaces. Anyway, it seems that /lib/udev/pcmcia-socket-startup is not called by udev although it should. Marco, can you help us? -- Pelle -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Ben Sargeant: Do you have the /etc/udev/rules.d/85-pcmcia.rules symlink? Yes, I have the symlink. pcmciautils-012-2 was my first install of this package OK. Try the following (check if it works after each step): 1. Upgrade to the latest udev and reboot the computer 2. Run modprobe orinoco_cs 3. Run /lib/udev/pcmcia-socket-startup 4. Try running modprobe orinoco_cs again And let me know the results. Yes, the operator had finger trouble at this end with the mail alias.
