Bug#358581: Doesn't stop on build failure

2007-06-14 Thread Martin Michlmayr
* Adam C Powell IV [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2007-06-11 16:21]:
 Thank you for the reply. I'll leave this open until you or someone else
 lets me know that it builds properly on that subarch.

Yes, it builds now.

Bug#358581: Doesn't stop on build failure

2007-06-11 Thread Martin Michlmayr
* Adam C Powell IV [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2007-06-10 17:21]:
 Does this build now for mips64? I closed 333001 some time ago with a
 dependency on autotools-dev, so I think this should work now for all
 platforms supported by that tool set.

 If so, this should be wishlist, as you say. Unfortunately, upstream is
 no longer maintaining this version of mpich...

well, mips64 isn't supported in Debian, so this should have been
a wishlist bug to start with. I guess it builds on mips64 now, but I
haven't tried because I'm currently travelling. If the other things
is too hard to fix, which I guess may be the case since there's no
upstream, I have no problem at all with you closing this bug report.

  Thank you for the report. I'm going to try to fix this by depending on
  autotools-dev and copying in the relevant files, using the patch for bug
  333001.

  Will that fix this problem to your satisfaction, or would you like me to
  build in a failure instead (which I'd have to learn how to do...)?

 Well, ideally, it should fail immediately if it cannot recognize the
 system, rather than compiling stuff and then failing much later in a
 way that is hard to interpret. But that's really just a wishlist bug
 for upstream.

Bug#358581: Doesn't stop on build failure

2006-03-23 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Package: mpich
Version: 1.2.7-1
Severity: important

Your package fails to build on mips64 because
debian/mpich-bin/usr/lib/mpich/share/examples doesn't exist.  I cannot
reproduce this on AMD64 but I can on MIPS. Only after looking at the
build log in great detail I saw what was wrong: mips64 is not detected
and not everything build, leading to a failure much much later. Please
don't do that - fail immediately.
