Package: libjpeg-progs Version: 6b-13 Severity: normal exifautotran doesn't rotate the thumbnail (although it doesn't claim to). This means that intelligent programs that use the thumbnail will show a picture inconsistent with the rotated main picture.
There's no need to fix this bug, as exiftran already performs the correct transformation (using exiftran -ai); I suggest simply moving exifautotran to /usr/share/doc/libjpeg-progs/. The only extra dependency that exiftran has is on libexif12; expert users who can't use it for some reason can always dig out exifautotran, or use the underlying programs directly. The reason I suggest removing exifautotran rather than just leaving it is that it confused me because I used it thinking it worked fully and correctly, and only later did I discover my error, having already used it on a large number of pictures, whose thumbnails I then had to correct using exiftran. (If it did work properly, then leaving it as an alternative would be fine.) -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16 Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages libjpeg-progs depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libjpeg62 6b-13 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG libjpeg-progs recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
