I rechecked: The volumes aren't muted.

Bug#401780 contains an attachment of the output of gnome-alsamixer
(as a compressed xwd file, I didn't find an easy way to dump the
mixer state into a text file).

Still no sound.

Nothing was muted (at least that I knew ...)

I've attached a compressed xwd dump of the GNOME Alsa mixer.
With this, I can't play a CD.

The problem is quite simple: No sound.  The card appears to have
been detected correctly (see below).  I am also part of the audio group:

alsamixer and gnoma-alsamixer agree that the volume is larger
than zero, but nothing works.
