debian/rules hardcodes 2.4, but the build-dependency is
unversioned. please don't hardcode versions in the rules file as well;
the build will break when changing gthe python default version.

Good catch.  When I updated the package to comply with the new Python
policy, I changed the dependencies, but not the debian/rules file.
