Package: postgresql-common Version: 76 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 6.6.x
I am attempting to upgrade 'postgresql-common' from version 71 to 76 (the latest currently in 'lenny'). The upgrade fails with this error: Setting up postgresql-common (76) ... chown: cannot access `/var/lib/postgresql': No such file or directory This directory doesn't exist on the system. This may be related to bug #416146 which changed the behaviour relating to this directory. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable'), (90, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_AU.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages postgresql-common depends on: ii adduser 3.103 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.13 Debian configuration management sy ii lsb-base 3.1-24 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii postgresql-client-common 76 manager for multiple PostgreSQL cl ii procps 1:3.2.7-3 /proc file system utilities ii ssl-cert 1.0.14 Simple debconf wrapper for openssl postgresql-common recommends no packages. -- debconf information: postgresql-common/obsolete-major: postgresql-common/untransitioned: -- \ "When I was born I was so surprised I couldn't talk for a year | `\ and a half." -- Gracie Allen | _o__) | Ben Finney <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
