Package: manpages-es Version: 1.55-6 Severity: important Hello. I see that you recoded all manpages to a broken data-loss causing encoding not even two weeks after basic UTF-8 support was added to man-db...
>From the changelog, I see this change was done on Sep 19 and only uploaded yesterday night -- I guess that could be the reason why fix to man-db went unnoticed. Storing the source in an 8859-1 encoding means all characters not representable will be irrevertibly lost; for example, this will mangle the manpages for iso-8859-X for all Xes other than 1 which I see are provided in manpages-es. While the transitory version of man-db currently in the archive still won't handle these characters, they will be fixed the moment groff is upgraded -- but if the source is mangled, they will stay missing. At the very least, the previous version of manpages-es appears to work as good as the new one right now, and it was ahead of a transition that just started. So, I believe it would be good to revert to, according to the changelog, 1.55-5. (Note: 1.55-4 has two files encoded twice: es/man2/mmap.2.gz and es/man7/iso_8859-2.7.gz). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
