Package: dovecot Version: 1:1.0.9-1 Severity: normal Dovecot currently requires plugins to build with the exact version of dovecot they run against. This makes packaging dovecot plugins logistically difficult. Please consider loosening the versioning requirements for the plugin interface, and supporting something like the standard shared library mechanism of designating compatible and incompatible versions. For example, a plugin built against dovecot version N should run against dovecot newer than the last version before N that added to the plugin interface, as long as the newer version did not remove or change any symbols in the plugin interface.
