Bug#471325: lighttpd: Fails to start when there are dupblicate configuration variables

2009-10-10 Thread Stefan Bühler
Hi,

I disagree: setting the same option twice in one block is a fatal error.

Changing the default in the source isn't a good idea either (in this case), as
the perl script detects when it is safe to enable ipv6.

Bug#471325: lighttpd: Fails to start when there are dupblicate configuration variables

2008-03-17 Thread Sjoerd Simons
Package: lighttpd
Version: 1.4.19-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I've always had ipv6 enabled in lighttpd using a config snippit in
conf-enabled. Now lighttpd switched to enabled ipv6 by default (which is very
nice).. Unfortunately the default config entries cause lighttpd to refuse to
  start, which breaks the upgrade:

Setting up lighttpd (1.4.19-1) ...

server.use-ipv6

 failed!
invoke-rc.d: initscript lighttpd, action start failed.
dpkg: error processing lighttpd (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 lighttpd

Which isn't very nice. Possible solution are to have lighttpd just throw a
non-fatal warning in such a case or change the default configuration in the
  source instead of the configuration
