Bug#480270: fails to identify gpg key to use

2008-05-09 Thread martin f krafft
Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.14.18
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/dpkg-buildpackage

 signfile hibernate_1.99-1.dsc
gpg: skipped martin f. krafft [EMAIL PROTECTED]: secret key not available
gpg: [stdin]: clearsign failed: secret key not available

This is because I use the additional info field for my Debian UID:

pub 1024D/330C4A75 2001-06-20
  [...]
uid Martin F. Krafft (Debian) [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I suggest that dpkg-buildpackage should honour $DEBKEYID, and if
that's unset and the current method fails to identify a key ID, then
it should try to find the key using only the maintainer/uploader
email, instead of using the whole Name Email string.

This is a duplicate of #41794. Trying a lookup based on the email only
should be a fallback I agree. Also if dpkg-buildpackage supports a
configuration file, putting -kkeyid there would convenientely replace
the requested DEBKEYID environment variable.

Cheers,
