I can see the same effect with X fonts (I setup everything to use X fonts and have unset Allow pages to set their own fonts). Looks like letters are improperly placed. When I remove .fonts.conf, it prints well with usual ttf font (Liberation?). A piece of my .fonts.conf: ?xml version=1.0?
