I had a run of the patch but it was really big, I was expecting something

I know, but I guess if you use mutt you know how convenient it is. It's
really a *great* news reader too (with the patch). News and mails are so
similar that I can see the point on mail clients supporting NNTP.
I guess I will have to keep using my ol' muttng package or start patching
mutt myself =(, because I won't give up using mutt as my news client =)
maybe if the patch were well maintained from upstream, as the sidebar patch
is, we would have included that.
AFAIK the patch is well maintained (at least I know it was, maybe is not
the case anymore). The patch linked in #403779 seems to be up to date.

But yes, it seems like a very large patch indeed.
I know that at the moment we are not including the patch, so I can't do
anything to alleviate your sadness, but I hope that this mail can
clarify the reasons why we did it :-)
