Package: usplash
Version: 0.5.19-2
Severity: normal

Using usplash as bootup splash screen with 2.6.26-1-686 stock kernel results
in a completely white screen during boot (in early boot phases white with
some black lines, as were text lines in vga=normal video mode).
X starts up correctly, but text consoles remain garbled (grey/white blinking
stripes on tty1, black/grey stripes in other ttys).
I'm not using any vga=xxx kernel parameter because it caused me problems
described in bugs #471741 and #483915, but usplash worked fine with previous
kernel versions: trying to add vga=791 as a kernel parameter usplash is
correctly shown, but problems reported in the cited bugs are still there.
Using nosplash kernel parameters consoles are ok (but of course usplash is
disabed).

I have a Nvidia FX5200Go video card, but I don't think this problem could be
related with proprietary drivers as it shows up early in the boot process
(before the kernel module is loaded), and it showed up even during the first
boot with 2.6.26, when the nvidia module wasn't compiled yet.

Daniele Benucci.
