Bug#510450: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#510450: Bug#510450: epiphany-browser: Epiphany disappears without warning

2009-01-06 Thread Christian Perrier
Quoting Dave (k...@arrl.net):
I tried apt-get but got an error on update- probably didn't have the
source entry quite right. If you can send me a correct sources.list
entry, I will give it a shot. As long as I can fairly quickly remove
and re-install current lenny versions, I'm willing to try it - after
 hours.

That would be:

deb http://pkg-samba.alioth.debian.org/packages/ ./
deb-src http://pkg-samba.alioth.debian.org/packages/ ./

That's probably a little bit more experimentation than I'm willing to
take on right now with this server. The samba shares on this machine
are pretty critical to us. And also, because I don't really know what
 I'm doing.

Indeed, the URL we pointed you to is apt-get'able so, assuming you put
the right entries in sources.list, you could update your packages with
apt, which will solve those dependency problems in a better way than
manual dpkg runs.

But I understand you might be reluctant for this on a production
server (a constant problem for us when maintaining the packages...).

Christian, since we seem to keep shipping nss_wins in our releases even
though I think it implements a bad idea :), we should see if we can get this
bug fixed for lenny as well.

Well, that needs isolating what upstream change did fix this...
.../...
That could be upstream bug #5904:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5904

Someone, in that bug mentioned that he compiled .deb packages (for
lenny, or Ubuntu Intrepid, probably) with the patch proposed by Jeremy
Allison.

It would be good if the bug submitters for #509101 and #510450 could
test these packages, additionnally to testing 3.2.6 package I pointed
in #509101
