Package: subversion Version: 1.5.0dfsg1-2 Severity: important There seems to be a regression in Subversion 1.5 that causes `svn up` on some sub-path in the repository to fail with a 403 error _unless_ the user has r/w access to the repository's root directory:
http://subversion.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3242 This has also been reported to the Ubuntu bug tracker: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/subversion/+bug/310739 This issue effectively prevents users of the Subversion 1.5 client from updating their working copies (and from performing various other, less frequent operations) in environments where they don't have r/w access to the entire repository! IOW, svn 1.5 is useless in those environments! I consider this a "serious"-level release critical bug, however reportbug tells me not to assign that severity myself, so I'm filing it as "important" and ask that the Subversion Debian maintainer upgrade it to "serious". In effect, this would mean that either the subversion package has to downgraded to the last 1.4 version, some (as yet unknown) fix has to be applied, or the package has to be omitted from the Lenny release (certainly not desirable). Releasing 1.5 with Lenny, however, is going to piss off a LOT of Subversion users.
