Package: libcairo2 Version: 1.8.6-2 Severity: normal I am using my Debian workstation via an Exceed network X server from my Windows workstation.
I recently upgraded my workstation to the latest Squeeze. Now I cannot run GTK applications without fonts and certain icons getting rendered in an odd way: it seems as if the R (red) channel was nulled. Please see the attached screen shot. You will notice that KDE applications (here: konqueror) are not affected. This looks very much like a problem that was discovered in the process of fixing <http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7294> (cf. comment #30 et al.), which I also was affected by back then. This is the main reason why I think that libcairo2 is the culprit now. During my system upgrade, libcairo2 was upgraded from 1.6.4-7 to 1.8.6-2. With 1.6.4 everything was working fine, although GTK applications admittedly ran more slowly than they do now. I do not dare marking this bug as "important" because probably only users of certain remote X servers are affected, but it effectively prevents me from using GTK applications productively. -Julian -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (600, 'testing'), (90, 'unstable'), (80, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libcairo2 depends on: ii libc6 2.9-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdirectfb-1.0-0 1.0.1-11 direct frame buffer graphics - sha ii libfontconfig1 2.6.0-3 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.3.7-2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libpixman-1-0 0.14.0-1 pixel-manipulation library for X a ii libpng12-0 1.2.35-1 PNG library - runtime ii libx11-6 2:1.2-1 X11 client-side library ii libxcb-render-util0 0.3.3-2+b1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-render0 1.2-1 X C Binding, render extension ii libxcb1 1.2-1 X C Binding ii libxrender1 1:0.9.4-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-12 compression library - runtime libcairo2 recommends no packages. libcairo2 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
