I do not want to package a new version just because it is available. There may be a few issues with it, but no Debian user has been hit by them yet. I have many changes pending for gnome-app-install, and a lot of stuff which has to be discussed with upstream first, e.g.: * Make gnome-app-install a native Debian package shared by DebianUbuntu. = Handle differences using substvars and dynamic patching * Integrate access to screenshots.debian.net, like synaptic already does. * Handle the new gstreamer-codec-install by using alternatives (like Ubuntu), instead of simply disabling our gnome-codec-install (like in experimental). = Makes backporting easier - I want to backport the cool screenshot stuff mentioned above. * Switch from CDBS to debhelper 7 - because cdbs is just not needed anymore, and reducing build-dependencies is always nice. * Make the AppInstall Python package private, i.e. install into /usr/share/gnome-app-install/AppInstall, as written in the Python Policy. = We don't need public modules, because g-a-i applications are the only ones using them. * Maybe drop the use of synaptic and use the functionality provided by python-apt 0.7.9 to install the packages. As you can see, there are many planned changes, and the first step is to prepare those that can be easily merged upstream (code changes), afterwards merge the packaging, and finally upload a new release. I hope to get everything finished next week, but it also depends on mvo (CCed) being reachable and agreeing with my plans. The final product may be named 0.6, 0.5.30 or similar. -- Julian Andres Klode - Free Software Developer Debian Developer - Contributing Member of SPI Ubuntu Member - Fellow of FSFE Website: http://jak-linux.org/ XMPP: juli...@jabber.org Debian: http://www.debian.org/ SPI: http://www.spi-inc.org/ Ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu.com/ FSFE: http://www.fsfe.org/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

OK, I will upload the current release 0.5.24-1 today and after it has entered testing and something new is ready, I will upload the next release with new features, etc. -- Julian Andres Klode - Free Software Developer Debian Developer - Contributing Member of SPI Ubuntu Member - Fellow of FSFE Website: http://jak-linux.org/ XMPP: juli...@jabber.org Debian: http://www.debian.org/ SPI: http://www.spi-inc.org/ Ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu.com/ FSFE: http://www.fsfe.org/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
