It seems you're using 1.1.27. So, before making an effort to isolate these problems, I kindly ask you to try to reproduce them in 1.1.38. Apticron has changed a lot since Lenny release (same for apt-get and aptitude). Btw, the current way to get pending upgrades is: PKGNAMES=`/usr/bin/apt-get -q -y --ignore-hold --allow-unauthenticated -s dist-upgrade | \ /bin/grep ^Inst | /usr/bin/cut -d\ -f2 | /usr/bin/sort` So, if it keeps sending wrong upgrade lists, it can even be an issue in other apt tools.
