The package is not as you put "useless". Yes, the libxml2-dev dependency needs adding but otherwise, it's still 1 line to compile a program against flickcurl:
gcc -o prog prog.c `pkg-config flickcurl --cflags` `pkg-config flickcurl --libs` and that *does* include the right include line. flickcurl-config does need fixing too.
