When I switch to a virtual console, close the laptop lid and reopen it
again, Linux doesn't turn the LCD screen back on. When I switch to an X
session it gets turned on again. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6400 with
Intel GPU. I'm not using KMS yet. This issue occurs with 2.6.32 rc8,
2.6.31, 2.6.30 and I think earlier versions too. The below info is for
2.6.32 rc8, marking the bug as found in 2.6.30 since that is the
earliest version I recently reproduced it in.

does 2.6.32-8 fix the situation.

also upcoming stable 2.6.32.9 will carry several lid closing fixex,
so that might also be worth having an eye on.

also is the bug upstream reported?
