I've have also the same issue with my box. Roll back to 0.9.6 solve the problem.
I don't found the 1:0.6.10-1.1 package to test it. if I can make
myself useful, tell me.
It's bad this version it's gone in testing, this broke many atheros box.

since the last upgrade hostapd doesn't start anymore, returning
Could not set DTIM period for kernel driver
Downgrading to 0.6.9-3 makes things right again.
