The Xreset.d feature was just uploaded in xorg version 1:7.5+4. It
would be great if gdm started using it soon, so Debian Edu can start
to implement our use of this feature. :)

I hope to test the gdm patch with this version as soon as my test
machine is done installing squeeze (probably tomorrow), but wanted
to let you know about the progress being done with this feature.
I've now tested the proposed patch, and it work with the new
x11-common

The patch looks fine, but I???m not 100% sure it works, since the
pre/post session code has changed a lot over the years. I???d be
more comfortable if someone could test it.
