Bug#580486: openoffice.org: Printing DL envelopes on my Epson R800 comes out wrongly positioned

2011-02-10 Thread Lawrence D'Oliveiro
I just tried LibreOffice 3.3, and the address looks to be in the right
place now.

Bug#580486: openoffice.org: Printing DL envelopes on my Epson R800 comes out wrongly positioned

2010-08-01 Thread Lawrence D'Oliveiro
Just to add some more info, I notice that there are two places to
specify the page size and orientation, one in “Format/Page...” and the
other from the “Properties” button in the print dialog.

I have the former set to “DL Envelope” in “Landscape” orientation, but
the latter always shows up as “A4” and “Portrait”. I change it to “DL”
and “Landscape”, but it makes no difference to how it prints. And the
next time I go to look at those properties, they are back to “A4” and
“Portrait” again.

So it worked once? Until when? You should tell that so we can go looking for

Checking through the files in /var/log/apt, looks like my recent
OpenOffice.Org updates went like this:

2010 Feb 18: 1:3.1.1-16
2010 Feb 28: 1:3.2.0-2
2010 Apr 01: 1:3.2.0-4
2010 Apr 25: 1:3.2.0-8

I mainly print envelopes at or near the beginning of the month, to send
out invoices. I noticed the problem the last two billing cycles; the
April printouts were done on the 2nd of April, so the problem would have
started after the update to 1:3.2.0-4.

I used to be able to print DL envelopes from OpenOffice.Org Writer on my Epson
R800,
using Landscape orientation. But now, the address on the envelope comes out in
the
wrong position. It looks like the printable area is being aligned against the
back
edge of a full A4-sized page, instead of the front edge. Thus, if I use a paper
clip
to attach the envelope to the back edge of an A4 sheet of paper and feed that
through,
the address comes out in the right place.

I assume this isn't a CUPS problem or driver problem, as I can still print
envelopes
correctly from Inkscape.
