Hi Mike,

sorry, I completely forgot about that, but it is still valid, even
with firefox 6.0

I have finally created a screen cast where:
- firefox/iceweasel is running in safe mode
- I check that javascript is enabled etc (your checks below)
- then go to www.youtube.com and clikc on login which pops me back
  to the main youtube page.

I think that this shows the behaviour quite clearly.

You basically are using the default settings. With such settings, it
works for me. What about cookies ? Can you check about:permissions? (new
in 6.0)

Sorry, forgot to write that:

Yes, logging into scribd.com does not work, even with all extensions
etc disabled by starting with -safe-mode. Also checked in the firefox
menu Extensions/Addons and the normal dialog tells me that all have
been disabled.

[ ] Block pop-up windows
[X] Load images automatically
[X] Enable JavaScript
[X] Enable Java

Going into JavaScript - Advanced:
[X] Move or resize existing windows
[ ] Raise or lower windows
[X] Disable or replace context menus
[ ] Hide the status bar
[ ] Change the status bar text
