Bug#601105: bash(1) manpage: "~/.bashrc and ~/.bashrc"
merge 601105 781057 983604 thanks Looks like this bug is still present with bash 5.1-6 in unstable [1]. I see that it has been found and reported by several people in the mean time (both here and downstream in Ubuntu [2]), so I'm trying to merge the bug reports to have a single place tracking this. I believe this should be an easy fix, but I unfortunately don't know what the first ~/.bashrc should be replaced with to match the actual behaviour. Bug#601105: bash(1) manpage: ~/.bashrc and ~/.bashrc
Package: bash Version: 4.3-8 Followup-For: Bug #601105 Dear Maintainer, I confirm this issue. The doc probably meant /etc/bash.bashrc and ~/.bashrc as these two files are often mentioned together a few lines above. Bug#601105: bash(1) manpage: ~/.bashrc and ~/.bashrc
Package: bash Version: 4.1-3 Severity: minor File: /usr/share/man/man1/bash.1.gz -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, the manpage, in section INVOCATION, says If bash determines it is being run in this fashion, it reads and executes commands from ~/.bashrc and ~/.bashrc, if these files exist and are readable. I think either one of the filenames is wrong or the doubled file name can be removed.
