Bug#609095: tinyproxy: Bind cannot be used with transparent support enabled error message
Hi, very broken bug report... a) The error message is: # /etc/init.d/tinyproxy restart Restarting tinyproxy: Bind cannot be used with transparent support enabled. Syntax error on line 37 Unable to parse config file. Not starting. Not without - with! b) The configure option is --enable-transparent (it had a different name: --enable-transparent-proxy, see https://banu.com/git/?p=tinyproxy.git;a=commitdiff;h=58ac635a17dcfe8add856fea5af9faacf56aca16) Renaming this to something unrecognized does turn that option off ofcourse (removing would be the correct way...) c) The check was inserted here: https://banu.com/git/?p=tinyproxy.git;a=commitdiff;h=febb521bfd36ae0d647a42bbf7618f57928e9d38 configure.ac says version was 1.7.0 d) I see no reason why Bind shouldn't work in transparent proxies too, so i think it is a bug in tinyproxy (probably removing that config check should fix it). But this does *not* render the package unusable. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#609095: tinyproxy: bind cannot be used without transparent support enabled error message
Package: tinyproxy Version: 1.8.2-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Upgrading because of the problem with the 'bind' directive not working in the 'stable' 1.6 release. In 1.8, an error appears during dpkg install, line 27: bind cannot be used without transparent support enabled. This can be fixed by getting the source, and fixing debian/rules so that --proxy becomes --proxy-transparent. Then rebuild the dpkg. Errors occur during build that --proxy-transparent is not recognized, but the resulting dpkg builds and runs just find (and the bind directive works). It does seem slow, but this may be an unrelated problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.7 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages tinyproxy depends on: ii libc6 2.7-18lenny6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii logrotate 3.7.1-5 Log rotation utility tinyproxy recommends no packages. tinyproxy suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
