I discovered that 'pcmanfm --desktop' only crashes the X session when it's set
to use a background colour.
Setting it to use a background image doesn't crash the session.

I found out that what was preventing logging into LXDE was the 'pcmanfm
--desktop' command.
Without it LXDE works even with gnome-settings-daemon installed.
icewm-session doesn't work though, even having nothing to do
