Sorry for not getting earlier to this, but it seems that you've
managed to build and test libssh on stable yourself. I've now built
and uploaded my libssh testpackages to
 http://people.debian.org/~siretart/debian/squeeze-backports/

I didn't build and test libssh on stable.

I am afraid bug #648738 and backporting libssh are completely separate
 issues.

 I see.

Well, It seems that nobody can really test remmina's NX plugin. TBH, I
don't consider it a really critical piece of functionality of neither
remmina nor libssh. Since I've now tested my backported libssh package
on a local student lab machine with remmina, and ensured that the
sftp, ssh and rdp plugins still work, I think the package has received
enough testing for an upload to squeeze-backports.

Unless someone objects, I'm going to upload it tomorrow morning.

Now uploaded, will build and upload x2goclient after it got accepted.

Seems that I totally forgot about this. I've uploaded x2goclient to
squeeze-backports only now. Sorry for the delay.

I am willing to set up a squeeze client to test the backported remmina
including NX plugin. Just provide the neccessary packages.

I'm a bit confused. Did you also check remmina?

No, I did not, but I did test it now:
Remmina on Wheezy does connect with a FreeNX server on Lenny (sorry, I
only have FreeNX on some very old systems) and shows a remote desktop.

  And did you test on
squeeze, or with a Debian 'wheezy' system?

I did test with a Wheezy system as client, but I can backport libssh and
test it on Squeeze if you think that's important.

I also could install FreeNX on a machine with Squeeze.

I think there is no problem, it's just a configuration problem in sshd
on some machines. But Sven will tell about his experiences, I expect.

 With regards,
 Paul

I tested again:

Client:
Wheezy
remmina, remmina-plugin-nx 1.0.0-3
libssh-4 0.5.2-1

Server:
Lenny
nxserver 3.5.0-9 (from NoMachine)

Laurent, have you heard back from upstream about this issue? In order
to build for stable, I had to revert the multiarch commit. In order to
faciliate this backport, I've uploaded my changes to
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/libssh.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/squeeze-backports.
Please let me know what you think about this matter.

I didn't build and test libssh on stable. I just used the packages
available with wheezy/testing on my pure wheezy client. Please review my

It is more difficult then thought. I had to backport cdbs first. Then
libssh did not build from source on Squeeze.

Not sure what I can do against that:
