It seems the package has made its way to Debian's archive, unless there's a

I haven't yet tested it, but maybe someone knows better.

Hi
I am the one who put deb package in main archive but package, as said ,
does not delete persistent rules (not allowed by udev/debian).
It adds however contextualization and network setup.

What do you mean by does not delete persistent rules ? ... I may have
missed where this was discussed ?

Could you maybe amend
https://wiki.debian.org/OpenNebula/PreparingDebianVmImage to explain
what may be done after having installed the package ?

My guess is that the package may be downloaded and installed on a wheezy
image even though it is still just in testing for now...

Thanks in advance.

I mean udev net and cd persistency rules. Package isnot allowed to delete
those.

If you build your image from an existing one you must delete them yourself
before saving it as a new image.

Correct there is no specific dependency.

 Thanks in advance.

Could you elaborate on these rules ? I'm not sure I understand how the
package works exactly, and its README.Debian isn't really explaining in
much details either :-/

Maybe you can explain there in the wiki, and just point to it ? ;)

Thanks in advance.

Just FTR, upstream now provide .deb packages for contextualization :
http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel3.6:cong#contextualization_packages_for_vm_images

Those packages apply the following changes to target system:
* Disables udev net and cd persistent rules
* Deletes udev net and cd persistent rules

* Adds OpenNebula contextualization scripts to startup

(so it's not suitable for Debian main as is but it's a nice start)

I haven't had time to check in details, but this package might be useful to

A more advanced solution to this could be to have some contextualization
package available to be installed in a VM meant to provide an image for One.

Thus, one would install such a package on a Debian system, prepared from qemu,
and it would be ready to be rebooted using the CD mounted by One during VM
creation.

Hope this helps.

Bug#657292: opennebula: Please provide directions on how to install Debian on one VMs

2012-01-25 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: opennebula
Version: 2.2.1-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi.

Once one has followed instructions in the README.Debian, a ttylinux VM should
be succesfully running.

The next question may be how can I install Debian on such an image, to run a
Debian VM inside the OpenNebula cloud ?.

Still it is quite difficult to find a howto explaining how to prepare such an
image, and contextualize it so that it could run on top of opennebula.

Maybe this is all available upstream, but wouldn't harm to havesome handy
usable scripts/templates/images so that Debian is easily deployed on top of
opennebula.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
