I should have noticed that the 'Master Playback Switch' had disappeared in your alsactl output. How to proceed? Please report this upstream using bugzilla.kernel.org, product Drivers, component Sound (ALSA), as described in my last message, and let us know the bug number so we can track it. Simple reproduction recipe that does not involve pulseaudio: run alsamixer -c0 and check if the mute knob has gone missing. Sorry for the confusion.
