it seems to be an upstream bug, as I can confirm this behavior with
Gentoo Linux and xfce-4.10. I don't use jdownloader, so it is definitely
not responsible for the small square on the top left of the screen.

It seems the square only appears when I open JDownloader when compositing is
turned on. It doesn't always happen though. The square doesn't appear when I
turn off compositing. The issue seems to be caused by JDownloader's splash
