Bug#673667: totem-mozilla: Split out totem-vega or add to Flash alternatives
severity 673667 serious thanks On Sun, 20 May 2012, Julian Andres Klode wrote: Totem Mozilla ships with the Vega plugin, which registers itself as a Flash plugin in a browser. Either integrate the Vega plugin with the alternatives for Flash, at a very low priority, or move it out of totem-mozilla (or both). I also got hit by this. The user ends up with two flash plugins in the list of plugins in iceweasel. And this one was listed first and was thus used resulting in non-functional flash because there's only a media player displayed in place of the flash element. Thus I'm bumping this to RC severity, it should really be fixed before upload to unstable. Ahem, I can't say I agree with the severity of this bug report. Especially as no package is depending or recommending totem-mozilla anymore. Just uninstall it, it's not that terribly useful anymore anyway with HTML5. Hi Michael, On Wed, 23 May 2012, Michael Biebl wrote: On 23.05.2012 10:09, Raphael Hertzog wrote: Thus I'm bumping this to RC severity, it should really be fixed before upload to unstable. How will they discover that they have to remove this package to get working Flash? I spent like one hour to identify the culprit... and I'm not the average user. I think it's better to move the .so away and add the update-alternatives registration, rather than spend the same time documenting the issue in the release notes.
