red, and the latest version that comes up under the distribution
permalink (http://search.cpan.org/dist/UUID/) is still UUID-0.02.

The permission issue is a CPAN/PAUSE problem that has affected many
modules, including e.g. Algorithm::Diff::XS. But we do have the correct
versions in Debian, since the maintainer can download even unauthorized
versions
