Bug#680139: dar: Parse error
The full command line is dar -m 1024 -y -s 4480M -D -R /backup/sources -c /backup/weekly/2012-07-05_full -Z *.gz -Z *.bz2 -Z *.zip -Z *.png -Z *.jpg -Z *.jpeg -Z *.tif -Z *.tiff -P *.iso -P /backup/sources/panther/lost+found This is the command causing the parse error. Apparently, whatever is used with the -P switch, must be relative to what is specified after the -R switch, because the modified command dar -m 1024 -y -s 4480M -D -R /backup/sources -c /backup/weekly/2012-07-05_full -Z *.gz -Z *.bz2 -Z *.zip -Z *.png -Z *.jpg -Z *.jpeg -Z *.tif -Z *.tiff -P *.iso -P ./panther/lost+found works perfectly. I know that the manual says that with -P it must be a relative path, but I am surprised that we did not see this parse error in the past, only after out partial upgrade from lenny. I suggest you consider this bug report closed - and thanks for your help. Bug#680139: dar: Parse error
You are right, I missed that one. After inserting the path, the new error message is No terminal found for user interaction. All questions will be assumed a negative answer (less destructive choice), which most of the time will abort the program. Parse error on command line (or included files): Cannot add an absolute path We encountered our problem when we tried to upgrade from lenny, I wanted to make sure that we have a full backup prior to the upgrade. In other words, I am aware that lenny is not supported any longer, and we are (almost) ready to upgrade.
