Bug#680169: evolution: Evolution hangs when retrieving email

2016-03-11 Thread Pascal Obry

I have the same very same issue. The workaround does not work for me as
it also occurs when my computer is back from sleep. In this case the
network is reset and Evolution start checking e-mails in all accounts
(I have also quite a lot of them).

I have to kill Evolution and restart it. Nothing better for now.

thank you for taking the time report this bug upstream. Such information
should be denoted also in the meta information of the bug report as I am
doing now [1]. I am putting cont...@bugs.debian.org in the BCC field
so that people can reply to all without much trouble.

Since recently you can also do that during submit time [2]. You could
have added the following to the top of your bug report.

Bug#680169: evolution: Evolution hangs when retrieving email

2012-07-04 Thread Russell Stuart
Package: evolution
Version: 3.4.3-1
Severity: normal

I'm reporting a bug I've forwarded upstream. It's pretty serious (for
me at least), because I it means have to kill evolution several times
a day.

This is the information I put in the upstream bug report:

When retrieving mail evolution will hang occasionally (at least
daily). I am able to reproduce the hang by pressing F9 (send/receive)
a few (non-overlapping) times - typically 3.

I am running evolution using the Debian Wheezy package, Debian version
3.4.3-1.

The one unusual things about my setup is I have a large number of
accounts - around 20 or so. Normally it is a mixture of
imap/imaps/pop3/pop3s accounts, but I retested in after disabling all
imap/imaps account and the hang still occurs. When it hangs some
accounts have been collected successfully and some not - see attached
screen shot. In the example in the screen shot there were no
partially collected accounts, but this is not always the case. I have
seen it hang midway (according to the progress bar) through collecting
my gamil account, which is imaps.

Here is an lsof of evolution when it is hung. The one notable thing
about this is there are no open IP sockets, so it isn't hung waiting
on a remote server:
