Hello,

The bug with utf-8 garbage on non-utf-8 setups is a bit deeper. It seems
that every message is converted to utf-8 but the internal representation
in perl is not marked utf-8.

Is there a reason to not use a proper internal representation of the
text and not using perls own way to output characters to the stdout? Is
there a reason to invent the wheel again but broken?

Regards
   Klaus
