I have the same problem, with one user of the machine (so that this
is not a big problem for me). I think it appeared first after some
upgrade, but I don't remember which one.

Bug#718620: gdm-simple-greeter: users list collapsed to 2px hight

2013-08-03 Thread Patrick
Package: gdm3
Version: 3.4.1-9
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

since upgrading gdm3, gdm-simple-greeter has strange behaviour:
The list of users (I have 2 here) is somehow shown, but collapes to 2px height,
with only a blue 1px line and a blue 1px line with white dashes is shown, like
the border of a selected element in a list. No button is visible (is there
supposed to be one?). Hitting cursor-up or cursor down on the keyboard changes
something, that is the dashed line jumpes up or down 1px.

After hitting Enter on the keyboard, one of the users is selected for login and
I get the normal dialog showing the user name, the field to enter the password,
a drop-down field to choose the session, buttons to cancel and log in. The
selection of the user is repeatable, that is, in the user list, navigating up
and down in a certain order brings up the login dialog for the 2 users and the
dialog for others

I'm not aware that I have changed something in the config. Last thing I did was
upgrading testing after release, which of course drew in a log of new packages.
I think 3.4.1-8 did not have the problem, but I cannot downgrade due to
dependency problems with libdconf1/libdconf0 which I cannot resolve manually.
apt-logs say that I had installed 3.4.1-8 until 2013-07-01. I waited for some
update hitting testing soon, this is why I report only now.

I have some 10 packages from unstable installed, which I think are unrelated to
the problem. Anyway, list is attached.
I have nothing installed from experimental.

Regards

Patrick
