 Hi,

I admit this does not clarify the situation for me. Even if the problem
is at upstream side - if upstream does not care for the problem the
maintainer is in charge to invent a patch. I was just wondering if a
binNMU would do the trick or not. If not I have no idea what to do
because I do not really understand the problem.

This has nothing to do with upstream. This is about the debian binary
package name.

Well, I now have read three statements:

  - binNMU
  - upstream problem caused by old lintian version
  - wrong package name

Please let me know how I can / should solve at least one of the above
problems. Patches welcome.

Kind regards

  Andreas.

Hi,

I admit I have no idea what you expect me (main Uploader) to do. Please
explain and I'll try to be as quick as possible to do so.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

   Hi,

afaics, the rdeps of libgtkdatabox are currently blocking the cruft
  removal of
   libgtkdatabox-0.9.1-1 [1] and in turn glade-3

   Both libgtkdatabox-0.9.1-dev and libgtkdatabox-0.9.2-dev provide
libgtkdatabox-dev, so I think a binNMU should be sufficient.

I'm not sure that's going to work. Why is the -dev package versioned
   anyway?

No idea, I'm not the maintainer (CCed)

That said, I've asked ftp-masters to do a partial removal and get rid of
libgtkdatabox-0.9.1-dev from sid. See #721512, which I marked as blocker
for this bug after asking basically the same question on #debian-buildd

Sorry, just a guess of mine, not something to packagers deal with. It is
maybe something on the source code. See the info about libtool, versioning
system.
