 Hi Alex,

 ldapscripts.log is not helpful, either:

 Nov 10 15:30:47 sylvester ldapscripts:
 ldapadduser(harri): /usr/sbin/ldapadduser jupp 100 No such object (32)
 Matched DN: dc=sample,dc=com
 ldap_add: No such object (32)
 matched DN: dc=sample,dc=com
   - Error adding user jupp to LDAP
Looks like you don't have dc=sample,dc=com or
ou=People,dc=sample,dc=com or some other parent object.

check your LDAP tree with ldapsearch -x

I agree, that this is not very user-friendly. You are free to talk
with upstream author about your suggestions. =)

You mean I should bypass the Debian bug tracker and the
package maintainers to get things fixed?

I mean you should better contact ldapscripts author directly if _you_
have some ideas about improvements in _his_ software.
As maintainer I can fix obvious bugs, or forward some real problems to
upstream. But when you want to share your _ideas_ I'm just an
unnecessary retransmitter.

Ldapscripts author Ganael could be accessed via bugtracker on
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ldapscripts/ or directly via e-mail
(see copyright file).

Error adding user jupp to LDAP

Sorry to say, but this is not very helpful. ldapadduser
should be more precise about _what_ went wrong. Showing
the bad internal command or some verbose mode might
 help.

The hard way to add users using ldapadd and a ldif file
 works without problems, of course.

In case of error I recommend to look into /var/log/lapscripts.log
There are often detailed info there.
