Hi Bernd,
After upgrading open-vm-tools* packages from version 2:9.2.3-1031360-7+b1 to
version 2:9.4.0-1280544-5 I am seeing the following messages in /var/log/syslog
every 30 seconds:
Jan 15 10:00:11 monitor vmsvc[1497]: [ warning] [guestinfo] Failed to
get vmstats.
Jan 15 10:00:41 monitor vmsvc[1497]: [ warning] [guestinfo] Failed to
get vmstats.
Jan 15 10:01:11 monitor vmsvc[1497]: [ warning] [guestinfo] Failed to
get vmstats.
Jan 15 10:01:41 monitor vmsvc[1497]: [ warning] [guestinfo] Failed to
get vmstats.
Jan 15 10:02:11 monitor vmsvc[1497]: [ warning] [guestinfo] Failed to
get vmstats.
Jan 15 10:02:41 monitor vmsvc[1497]: [ warning] [guestinfo] Failed to
get vmstats.
.
.
.
This seems to be a partial re-occurrance of bug 639767 that I reported in Aug
2011.
I suspect it may also be related to bug 734547 since it is the lack of procps
support that causes this error.
