can you clarify how you disabled transmission-daemon from starting
with init?
Well, I didn't, at least not successfully. I started rcconf via sudo,
and unselected the entry for transmission-daemon, without effect.
is this command returning any output:
$ ls /etc/rc2.d/*transmission*
Yes, /
control: tags -1 + moreinfo
