Hello Guido, Considering the current situation in Debian regarding the shutdown of non-Git version control systems, I'd like to ask you, to fix #796816 and #814613.
Two years ago I tested git-buildpackage and it didn't work for me. My reported bug is still open. Considering #814613 there are more users affected (I basically have the same layout Robert describes, so that is another problem for me). The reason for these issues is, that variables are treated differently, even if they contain commands. IMHO the logic behind this is a bit arbitrary and the fix, to treat them the same way, seems to be very simple. At the moment this issue is becoming a real show stopper for me. Considering, that subversion services may be gone soon, I hereby ask you to fix this issue soon. It might help more users to smootly transition their package repositories to Git before subversion stops running, which would be a great deal of help. If I can help, please don't hesitate to ask.
