avbin has only ever seen one maintainer upload (in 2009) and since then required constant QA work (the following 8 uploads). Now it would need an update for FFmpeg API changes (#803800). The current upstream version is 10 (from 2012), while we still have version 7 in the archive. Thus the removal of avbin was suggested two years ago in #741935. It has been orphaned meanwhile. The only user of avbin, psychopy, found sufficient alternatives [1]. Since avbin is already not in testing or stable it's of not much use to keep it in unstable either. So please remove it.
