I hope you are well. Following advice from the MIA team, I have uploaded with the help of debian-mentors to the DELAYED/7 queue a minimal NMU of poppassd that resolves #817626 [1]. Please let me know whether and how to proceed with the changes proposed in #836008. In case I do not hear from you till the NMU is accepted, I will take this as a signal that you are, at least for the moment, too busy to take care of the package and request sponsorship for poppassd/1.8.7-1. Before the transition freeze in four weeks, I further plan to add a systemd unit as an alternative to inetd that restricts the priviledges of poppassd to the necessary minimum.
