My apollogies: I have just realized that I have copy-pasted the wrong log for the start daemon. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the environment from where I have reported the bug, neither have the time now to replicate it in my laptop. The
root@3186238ed456:/# /etc/init.d/tomcat8 start
obviously didn't reported an error stopping Tomcat, but a failure starting
it.
