Specifically, upstream is talking about this issue here:

https://github.com/golang/go/issues/12488

Bug#833470: golang-go: No reasonable default for GOPATH?

2016-08-04 Thread Michael Stapelberg
Upstream doesn’t prescribe a GOPATH, so I don’t think Debian should either.
It’d be a shame if Go behaved differently depending on which Linux
distribution one uses.

If you’d like to see this changed, please lobby upstream :).

Bug#833470: golang-go: No reasonable default for GOPATH?

2016-08-04 Thread Dale Harris
Package: golang-go
Version: 2:1.6.1+1
Severity: minor

This is more a question than a bug report. I'm wondering why there isn't
some reasonable default environment, like for $GOPATH, set up in
/etc/profile.d/ for Go? Just seems like that should be part of the
package.

-- System Information:

  APT prefers unstable
APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable')
Architecture: amd64 (x86_64)

Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)
Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash
Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system)

Versions of packages golang-go depends on:
ii golang-1.6-go 1.6.3-1
ii golang-src 2:1.6.1+1

golang-go recommends no packages.

golang-go suggests no packages.
