Fwiw, I would personally focus on packaging the client first.
Seeing that the repo at https://salsa.debian.org/debian/nextcloud-client
is still empty, I wanted to ask about the current state of this ITP again.

Just some heads-up:
I noticed that the latest owncloud-client version 2.5.0 is no longer
compatible with nextcloud (I'm running nextcloud 13.0.6 here)

So far I use the Debian owncloud-client package [1] successfully, but
once it is upgraded, I'll have a problem.

Having a proper nextcloud-client package would be great. I'm not too
eager using the upstream provided AppImage or some random PPA.

Jonathan, did you find some time to review Lev's work?

Hi Lev,

Thanks for working on this. I'm glad to see the Salsa repo is now
live[1] and I look forward to having something to look at!

For my own purposes I am looking at possibly replacing an Owncloud and I
may be able to help evaluate the nextcloud packaging for this purpose.

I apologize for the delay here. Yes I am still interested in this package. I am

Nextcloud is the recent ownCloud fork. While I don't think it's probable
Nextcloud itself will be packaged in Debian, having the desktop client
would be very nice.

At the moment the differences between Nextcloud and ownCloud are minor
so the owncloud-client package still works. That will eventually change
as the differences betweent the two grow
