Due to a bug in poppler [1], thumbnailers of atril and evince were crashing on some PDFs. It had been fixed upstream in version 0.50.0. Please apply the patch to 0.48.0 in Sid and Stretch (the debdiff is in the attachment). If possible, please also patch poppler 0.26.5 in Jessie.
