I think it's better to work alongside with the upstream project...
currently the official packaging guidelines at
http://gambaswiki.org/wiki/howto/package are being updated according to the
creator himself... I think we should collaborate with the upstream project
to define this well and thus save efforts... because knowing well which
package is needed requires time and in each change of the original project
this will also changes! you can follow at
http://gambaswiki.org/bugtracker/edit?object=BUG.1531

i cannot test directly due i use jessie but when use the debian package
does not work ..
then i packaged my own follow the upstream rules
http://gambaswiki.org/wiki/howto/package and currently works!but got new
problems due Debian dependences are more refined!

package!

Installing gambas3 from PPA and then Debian packages is not a common use
case. If you do so, you are on your own and cannot expect support.
Please try to stick to the issue's topic.

I will not try to have a different approach to documentation in Debian
than upstream. If anybody wants to improve the situation, I am happy to
take patches and even post them upstream if you do not know how to do
that yourselves.

So, my question rephrased: When you install the current testing
gambas3-ide package (currently version 3.12.2-1), does downloading the
offline documentation work without installing any additional packages?
If not, which packages do you need to install on top?

2019-02-15 Thread PICCORO McKAY Lenz
the documentation at the debian Gambas package does not work unless we
install all the Gambas packages due the bad depend relation and also bad
information in the upstream wiki page

many users have been talking about that problem in the past at upstream
project Gambas in the new mail list, the "offline button" was a partial
solution but not a real solution, in any case! at the debian package does
not work if all the packages are not installed! i not track what are the
need real packages due when i consult the wiki packagin at gambas site i
found some inconsistences

the second cause it's the mix of packages, some people install those that
comes from ppa and then upgrades to the lasted on Debian.. this cause a lot
of problems due both packages does not have good depends relation, i make
that test, i must to install and then again reinstall to make it work after
a mix upgrade from ppa to Debian one's..

i already know that the debian gambas team are lack of manpowers also the
wiki http://gambaswiki.org/wiki/howto/package has incongruence and
inconsisten information..
